Bermuda International Race Week has seen as many as 8 classes taking part in a single event. Previously, classes such as International 14s (1952), 505s, Solings (1970), and Lasers (1973) have participated. Recent years have seen a more consolidated approach with International One Designs (1952), Etchells (1976), J-24s (1983), and J105s (2002) now providing the mainstay of the action. The reason the event is designated “International” is due to the event format - skippers are invited from overseas to compete alongside local sailors. Participating crews and skippers have come from far and wide, with entries ranging from Cayman to Canada, and all have always enjoyed a warm welcome, superb sailing and a sizzling social agenda.
